Here is my final!

New Final Direction

I have learned something while trying to create my character for my final...I'm not enjoying creating him.  I lost interest.  It was too frustrating.  So, I decided to switch gears and do an environment instead for my final.

So, what to do for an environment?  I ended up deciding to do something similar to an environment on the planet, Voss, from Star Wars the Old Republic MMORPG game from BioWare.  But, I didn't want exactly Voss, I wanted something Japanese.  So, I wanted to mix the two.  I ended up with the idea of a small Japanese zen garden, but off in a world like Voss.

So, here's a sketch of an idea of my zen garden.  Instead of rocks in sand, it'd be floating, glowing stones.

Goat!

I sketched out a bunch of goats as you saw earlier.  I liked number 5 because it was cute and simple.  I sketched a bit more and decided my goat reminded me of a dog.  So I drew this guy and loved him.  So, I made a color scheme (I added colors along the way too).  I thought the green would contrast nicely against the blues and grays in my goat.  His shadow could use a bit of fixin', but I think he turned out pretty good and adorable :)

Starting 3D

I sketched out a front and side view of my character and put it in maya to get a basic shape.  I plan on taking it into ZBrush and getting the details out, then take that and put it back into Maya.  Now, I've never done this before, but I'm excited to see how it pans out.  ZBrush is used a lot in character modeling, and I'm hoping to get a high poly look with a low poly model.

Story Boarding

Here is my idea of what I would start doing.  Things will probably change as I do them and get critiques.  Originally I was going to have the knife be radiated by some sort of goo, but I thought that'd be a longer process and cause me to build more people and rigs.  So, I decided to make it a cursed knife instead.  Also, at the end, I ran out of paper.  What I was thinking that you'd see the Nub on top of a building, almost like Batman, but instead he's evil.  I've been thinking of why he became evil, hence why you see the crossed out sections of the Nub on the couch.  I was going to have him be depressed because he wasn't pretty anymore (at least in his image).  If I do put a voice for him, I could have him say that he's angry because he isn't pretty anymore.  So, I still have some things for me to consider.

My Art Style

I decided to go with the oval shape for my main character for my final.  I'm still deciding what type of art style for the city and the rest of my stuff, but I was thinking maybe something like The Incredibles from Disney.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZbzbC9285I  Fairly simple and cartoon-like.  So, now I just need to draw the profile of my character and start modeling him in Maya. As for animation, I'm working on a storyboard and am almost done.  I will post that as soon as it's ready =)

Final Project Revamp

I decided to scrap my final project idea and go with my two earlier drawings of my professors as a hero and a villain.  I've been sketching their faces out to see which style I like more.  I've also drawn a story board of what animation I could do with them.  However, seeing how as time grows shorter and shorter, I may cut the hero from my animation all together.  I've been thinking I may do an animation of the villain and how he cut of his finger instead.

Final Project Concept

Can I just say how hard is it to come up with an idea?!  Very!  Thankfully I've been watching Xena and have an idea with a modern time goddess, Diana.  I have a feeling once I start this I'll end up changing her a bit.  I want her to look modern and awesome.  Diana is goddess of the moon and hunt, hence the bow and gigantic moon in the foreground.  I want the environment to be forest-like and hilly (it didn't really show up in the scan).  I'm still messing with ideas for her bow.

Superheroes and Villains

 The superhero and villain are actually my art professors.  The villain is my current professor of Art III.  He cut off his pinky finger, so I used it within the character and it's now his super power!

Me First Sketchz For Art Class

Here we have a scientist of ye ol' fantasy era.  He has a nice cane too!  I drew him with longer features because I felt like he was a odd fellow, crazy some may say, and felt that the longer features helped fit that persona.

To follow the fantasy theme, I drew a fairy.  I wanted to experiment with shadows and light with this one and tried my best to figure it out.
